Describe my task

How I solve it

What I build

I build a white-label tracking desk: a read-only pre-sale recon on the client’s public site with no logins, then implementation under your brand, delivered as numbered tickets. Access to a container is wired through an MCP server with the publish scope removed at the token level, so an agent can read and change Google Tag Manager without holding publish rights or credentials in a client config. You own the client relationship; I stay behind it.

The process

How it works

6 steps. Scope and a fixed price are agreed before the first one.

  1. Pre-sale recon, no logins

Public containers, consent configs and runtime captured in both reject and accept states, across the prospects you name.

  2. A red-flag table

Site × stack × installed tags × risks × the questions to ask before you quote.

  3. Agree access and a ticket queue

Numbered tickets, delivered in batches, in your brand.

  4. Implement

Container, Analytics and Ads changes through their APIs; site changes as paste-ready instructions when there is no CMS access.

  5. Gate the credentials

The GTM MCP runs with the publish scope removed at the token level, loaded from a 0600 env file, never in an MCP client config.

  6. Report and roll back

Every change documented with a reversal path; a status line you can forward to the client.

What you get

  • A read-only recon before you quote — three sites at a time in the dated case, no client logins required.
  • Implementation under your brand, delivered as numbered tickets.
  • Token-scoped container access: publish removed at the token level, verified by a 403, with no credentials in client configs.
  • Documented changes with rollback, so nothing is a black box.
  • Capacity that scales with your client list under one monthly partnership.

Built with

  • GTM API v2
  • GA4 Admin API
  • Google Ads API
  • GA4
  • Meta Pixel and CAPI
  • server-side GTM
  • consent tools
  • Shopify
  • WordPress
  • TYPO3
  • Magento
  • a vendored GTM MCP server (Node.js)

Before → after

Over 2017–2021 I ran 11 white-label contracts for marketing agencies, every one rated 5★, including a long embedded engagement of 100+ hours as an agency’s own GTM specialist. More recently: a three-site read-only pre-sale recon delivered with no logins on 2026-09-16.

    2017–2021

11 contracts, every one rated 5★; one embedded engagement of 100+ hours as the agency's in-house GTM specialist, plus a stream of numbered tagging and coding tickets.

  • German performance agency

pre-sale recon on 3 client sites, read-only, no logins, sent 2026-09-16

flagged pre-ticked consent, Consent Mode hard-coded to granted, two consent tools with four defaults, GA4 add_to_cart not firing, duplicate Meta PageViews and Ads cookies set before consent.

  • Tracking-stack GTM MCP

publish scope removed at the token level and verified by a 403; credentials loaded from a 0600 env file and never placed in an MCP client config.

Rated 5 out of 5 on Upwork.

...highly intelligent, communicative, and did his work thoroughly and on time. He was always in demand by me and all of his other clients.

What you can look at

A redrawn recon table — three anonymised sites × stack × installed tags × red flags — on synthetic data, plus a redacted 403 response showing the publish scope removed at the token level.

Client details anonymised and agency names withheld. Work dates as shown. The GTM MCP server is a third-party tool; my part is the token-scoped wiring. Technical implementation, not legal advice.

Price and timeline

What it costs and how it runs

The desk runs as a Technical Partnership: USD 1,000 per month, 8 engineering hours in an agreed area with one active task; hours include meetings, prep, research, implementation, QA and reporting, and unused time does not carry over. A one-off pre-sale recon or a bounded job is a Focused Fix from USD 450. Discussing the task is free.

A note from Daniilbefore you decide

When you don’t need this

If your in-house team already runs GTM and GA4 across your client list and the platforms agree, a desk adds a layer you don’t need — I’ll say so. And if all you want is a second opinion on one setup before you quote it, that is a bounded recon, not a partnership.

Questions

What people ask about this

Can you work entirely under our brand?

Yes. The recon, the tickets and the status line are delivered in your brand, and I stay behind your client relationship.

Do you need client logins for the recon?

No. The pre-sale recon reads public containers and consent configs and captures runtime in both states. Logins are only needed later, for the fix.

How do you keep credentials safe?

The GTM MCP runs with the publish scope removed at the token level (verified by a 403), and credentials are loaded from a `0600` env file, never from an MCP client config.

How many clients can you take at once?

The partnership is sized to your list: 8 engineering hours a month in an agreed area with one active task at a time, and a ticket queue you control.

What does it cost?

Technical Partnership USD 1,000 per month; a one-off recon or bounded job is a Focused Fix from USD 450.
