Affiliate Sales Missing or Double-Counted: Partner Postbacks That Survive Checkout Changes

I connect a partner click to a confirmed order, make retries traceable, and check missing or duplicate postbacks against the order record.

Describe my task

How I solve it

What I build

I build a postback path from a confirmed order to the partner, using the partner’s documented interface. The contract defines the click reference, the conversion key, the amount and currency, and what happens on retries or reversals. Collection follows your consent requirements. I keep unresolved orders visible instead of inventing an affiliate source.

The process

How it works

6 steps. Scope and a fixed price are agreed before the first one.

  1. Trace a synthetic partner click through the storefront, cart and order record.

  2. Agree what counts as an eligible sale and which system owns its status.

  3. Preserve the permitted click reference and give each conversion a stable key.

  4. Add delivery records and bounded retries; use the partner's supported deduplication mechanism where available.

  5. Test reloads, repeated callbacks, checkout changes and supported cancellation or refund updates.

  6. Reconcile eligible orders with accepted postbacks and hand over the exception list.

Handover

What you get

  • One documented owner of each partner conversion.
  • A tested postback path and a record of delivery attempts.
  • A list of unmatched orders with reasons.
  • A checkout-change checklist and a rollback procedure.

Built with

  • Partner API or postback endpoint
  • order webhooks or a scheduled order reader
  • a delivery ledger
  • retry handling
  • consent controls
  • reconciliation checks

Capability Work I do; the proof below is from related projects.

Before → after

The intended change is from two untraceable counters to one order-backed delivery record. Related multi-platform work informs the design; a completed affiliate postback implementation is not claimed here.

What you can look at

The proposed handover includes a synthetic click-to-order trace and a delivery table showing a first send, a retry and a duplicate blocked locally. This is an acceptance artefact to build with the engagement, not a published client result.

Capability proposal based on related multi-platform measurement work. No completed affiliate deployment or client result is claimed.

Price and timeline

What it costs and how it runs

A Focused Fix starts from USD 450 for one bounded cause. I agree the partner interface, test scope and delivery date in writing before starting. A wider migration needs a separate scope.

Timeline
The delivery date is agreed in the fixed quote after I check the partner contract and the order path.

A note from Daniilbefore you decide

When you don’t need this

If your partner’s supported integration already reconciles sales and handles retries, keep it. If the partner offers no supported conversion interface, I first establish what can be verified before quoting a build.

Questions

What people ask about this

Can you recover every missing partner sale?

Only where the order still carries evidence of the partner click and the partner supports the agreed correction path. I report gaps I cannot recover.

Does a successful request mean the partner accepted the sale?

Not necessarily. The handover distinguishes a sent request, a transport response and a sale accepted under the partner contract.
