The problem
How do I know if my Shopify tracking is actually broken?
Most tracking problems don’t announce themselves. Ads keep running, dashboards keep updating, and everyone assumes the numbers mean what they say — until someone notices Shopify’s order count doesn’t match GA4’s purchase count, or “Unassigned” has become a top channel, or Meta reports more conversions than the store actually had.
By the time that’s visible, budget decisions have already been made on bad data for weeks or months.
The hard part isn’t fixing tracking. It’s knowing, with evidence, what’s actually broken before you spend money fixing the wrong thing — or fixing something that wasn’t broken.
Scope
What I do
A bounded, read-only diagnosis of one agreed problem in one store, across up to three systems we choose at the kickoff (for example Shopify orders, GA4 and Meta). It’s one fixed depth, not a menu of tiers:
-
Pixel and tag inventory for the agreed systems
-
Order-level reconciliation for the agreed systems over the available period — the last 30 days as the baseline window, not a promise of full history — Shopify orders matched against each agreed platform order by order, not just compared totals
-
Meta Events Manager review (deduplication status, match-parameter completeness)
-
Checkout event spot-check
-
Consent-mode check
Nothing on your store changes during the diagnosis. I’m reading what’s already there, not editing it, and read-only access is revoked once you accept the report.
Scope: one store, one agreed problem, up to three agreed systems. If the answer needs a broader scope, we agree it before payment — a chosen limit is never passed off as a full check.
The process
How it runs
After we agree the scope and price in writing, we arrange payment and a kickoff time directly. The kickoff is a step, not the deliverable; the deliverable is the written verdict, two working days after the kickoff, once the access is confirmed sufficient.
-
Scope and kickoff (up to 30 minutes, included)
We agree the one problem and the systems in play (up to three) — which platforms, when symptoms started, the ad spend range, and whether a developer or agency currently owns the setup.
-
Read-only access
You grant viewer or collaborator access to GA4, Meta Events Manager, your ad accounts, and Shopify. I confirm in writing that the access is sufficient — that is when the clock starts. If data or access is missing, the clock has not started; I say so rather than extend silently.
-
Reconciliation and inspection
I pull the actual Shopify orders for the available period (the last 30 days as the baseline) and match them order by order against what each platform recorded — not just dashboard totals, which hide the errors that cancel each other out. I also check what’s actually firing at each step of the funnel against what should be, and where dedup and match-parameter logic breaks down. The individual checks behind this stage, and what each one does and doesn’t prove, are laid out in the Shopify tracking audit checklist.

Written verdict, two working days after the kickoff
Europe/Madrid, weekends excluded; you get the exact date and time in writing. The verdict says what’s broken, why, whether it’s worth fixing, and the priority next step — with a fixed-price quote where the fix has a definable scope, valid for 30 days — plus a recorded walkthrough.
Handover
What you get
A written verdict with the reconciliation data behind it. For every material gap inside scope, the confirmed cause — or what stays unknown, why, and how to verify it. Defects, normal measurement differences and unconfirmed hypotheses are kept apart, so you can tell a bug from an expected platform difference from a guess.
Alongside it: an event matrix showing expected vs. actual behavior per platform, the priority next step, and — where the fix has a definable scope — a fixed-price quote valid for 30 days. You also get a recorded walkthrough, so the document doesn’t have to speak for itself.
The report is yours to keep and use however you want, whether or not you come back to me for the fix — take it to another specialist, hand it to your own developer, or accept the quote and let me do it.

If you’re not sure whether your tracking is actually broken or your ads are just underperforming, the Health Check is built to answer that: a standalone diagnosis with evidence and a practical action plan. You can use it with your team or another specialist; implementation with me is optional.
Written verdict two working days after the kickoff, once access is confirmed. Request a Tracking Health Check or email next@taskfordaniel.com with your store URL and one sentence about what looks wrong.
Integration, custom app or automation requests are scoped by email first, not through the Health Check — write to next@taskfordaniel.com with what the task is.
If the report turns up a specific issue — a GA4 mismatch, a Meta CAPI problem, missing server-side coverage — the fixed quote routes you to the right next step, whether that’s GA4 tracking work, Meta Conversions API repair, or a server-side tracking build.

A note from Daniilbefore you decide
What this is not
This is a diagnosis, not a guarantee of ad performance. Better data doesn’t mean better creative or a better offer — it means decisions get made on numbers that are actually true.
It is not a promise to explain every discrepancy. Some gaps are normal measurement differences, and some causes cannot be confirmed from read-only access within the window; in both cases the report says so, and says how to verify, instead of inventing a cause.
I also won’t recommend a fix I can’t tie to a specific finding; if the Health Check turns up nothing serious, the report says so instead of inventing urgency. The last 30 days is the baseline window, not a promise of full history — seasonal or low-volume stores may need a longer look, which we’d scope separately.
It isn’t a substitute for the fix itself. The Health Check ends in a verdict and, where the scope is definable, a quote — implementing that quote is a separate engagement with its own scope, timeline, and validation. And it isn’t the Technical Working Session: that is a separate product — up to 60 minutes on one question chosen in advance, with a short written summary — and the kickoff inside the Health Check is not a working session. Nor is the Health Check a mandatory first purchase: if the task is already clear, I can quote the implementation directly. And it is not a paid pre-sale of Fixel Pixel: the app may come up as one option, disclosed as mine and with alternatives, never as the mandatory outcome of the diagnosis.

Questions
FAQ
Do you need to change anything on my store to run the Health Check?
No. The Health Check is read-only. I need viewer or collaborator access to GA4, Meta Events Manager, your ad accounts, and Shopify — nothing is edited, installed, or turned off during the diagnosis, and that access is revoked once you accept the report. You get a verdict first, and any fix is a separate, approved step.
What if you find nothing wrong?
Then I tell you that in writing. A clean bill of health plus a monitoring checklist is a legitimate outcome — it means you can scale spend without wondering if the numbers are lying to you.
When do I get the verdict?
Two working days after the kickoff is done and the access is confirmed sufficient — Europe/Madrid, weekends don't count. You get the exact date and time in writing. If data or access is missing, the clock has not started; I say so rather than extend silently.
How do you quantify data loss?
Order-level reconciliation: I pull actual Shopify orders for the available period — the last 30 days as the baseline window — and match them against what each platform recorded, order by order, not just totals. That's what separates a real reconciliation from comparing two dashboard numbers.
Will you fix what you find?
The report is yours either way. Take it to another specialist or fix the parts yourself; the plan is written so it can be handed over. If you want me to do it, implementation is a separate engagement, quoted at a fixed price where the scope is definable. Every fix is validated on a real test order and ends with an order-level reconciliation against the acceptance criteria agreed in the quote. Defects in the delivered scope are fixed free for 30 days. Different platforms never match orders exactly, and I don't promise they will.
